An international visionary conference on economy titled “New Economic Thinking: Bangladesh 2030 and Beyond” was held on December 21, 2016 at the Radisson Blu Water Garden Hotel in Dhaka. Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) organized the conference to discuss issues related to investment and potential sectors of export.
Her Excellency Sheikh Hasina, MP, Honorable Prime Minister of People’s Republic of Bangladesh was attended as chief guest to be inaugurated the conference. Addressing the inaugural ceremony, she expressed firm optimism that the country’s economy will usher in a new horizon of success creating a win-win situation in improving sub-regional and international economic relations and expanding trade, commerce and investment.
The event was organized to discuss futuristic strategies to facilitate the advancement of untapped investment ambience in Bangladesh for sustainable development. Necessary reforms in development sector and how to carry these reforms to the next phase was also been discussed. The conference was comprised in five sessions apart from the opening and concluding plenary which focused on ‘Bangladesh’s energy economy’, ‘water and land resource management’, ‘sustainability and environment impact’, ‘era of infrastructure: Bangladesh context’, ‘sustainable development goals 2030’ and ‘the next billion dollar opportunities in Bangladesh.
On the day-long conference, gathered ‘thoughtful and innovative doers’ from around the world who were shared their perceptions on practical solutions for sustainable development through global innovative efforts.
Among others, Abul Maal Abdul Muhith, Minister of Finance, Tofail Ahmed, Minister of Commerce, Amir Hossain Amu, Minister of Industry, Abdul Matlub Ahmad, President of FBCCI were present in the conference.
